 | 22 inches height plus the sprue - say 26" of height on the vertical pour. Liquid bronze, with a density of 481 lb/cf, would exert a pressure of some 22 psi at the base of that vertical cavity. Was quite interesting also to see the sea creature result of the lost foam method. Perhaps in lost foam, they melt out the foam in a separate step before pouring in the metal, I don't know.  | I made a 1/2 scale 1865 Mt Howitzer in 1997 at college in the foundry. What are you experienced was hydraulic pressure at the bottom. My results were very much like yours.
