 | when i first watched the movie i understood it like this-> the tethered ones are not real. they are just an imagination or what these people really are inside. when the innerself becomes the true one than the real one will be replaced with the other one and goes to the underground. the undergound is like your imagination this is how you think but do not act like that. but the imaginations are broken and they are not perfect because you don't have a 100% clear picture of your imagination. many people had their own way to explain the movie. He claims that he is a clone.. his real counterpart died and that everyone in Hollywood has a clone living underground all over the world.. that lots of people are cloned.. and like in avatar when the celebrity goes to sleep up here, they wake up down there and can murder or do anything they want.. they activate you, the ordinary person when you sleep and you’ll wake up thinking it was a dream,.. weird shit but this reminds me of that conspiracy theory.  | 2:45 This is why I didn't like the movie the most. There's no explanation for the origins of The Tethered. So there's miles of underground tunnels across America filled with clones, but who cloned them, how, and why are they affected by the actions of above people? I have a better time accepting the premise of a supernatural horror movie like The Mist (2007) or Stranger Things than what's going on in Us.  | They said in the movie the tethered were created by the government but have to share a soul with the real them. As a project, they wouldn't have just given up on them and left. tbh if the government was to actually give up on an experiment like that they would kill all the subjects. unless they were still monitoring them but it seems unlikely by how the doppelgangers got out.  | I understand the hate comments, but the film was incredible, and as explained by those involved: the film serves as a real representation of how our country tries to erase marginalized peoples and how the only thing separating “them” and “us” is privilege.  | I have a gut feeling we will get a big endgame reason for where they came from I mean Peele was given 5 of these movies to do, any movie studio wouldn’t just give anyone a 5 movie contract unless if it was a worthy investment plus the open ended discussion that the theadered were the failed experiment that the order from get out were able to then further down the line succeed with come get out.
