I wonder what computer that render this background and what resolution it uses. Cuz I bet even our regular high end PC can render this just because how optimize UE is Комментарий от : @danarseptiyanto4066 |

Something I've been curious about since I saw this... could this same setup be used to shoot on film in addition to digital? That'd be a really interesting experiment. As much as I love digital cinematography, film does have its own aesthetic, and I do often find myself missing it. From what I gather, part of the reason digital is favored now is because it's easier to work with, especially with effects-heavy projects... but if a set like this could work with film, it might be a way to bring that classic film aesthetic back in bigger-budget movies and shows, since it'd cut back on a lot of effects work. Great clips! I hope it's okay to ask, could you please add a warning for the flashing lights in this video please? Thank you so much! Комментарий от : @holly9464 |
Fantastic tech....even in ahsoka when the hyperspace ring arrives at pruedia and that shot of the 3 actors looking out at the rings...that planet is really out there on the volume walls....fantastic technology Комментарий от : @mohanicus |

is that a specific brand of led wall? who makes it is my question Комментарий от : @mcLynguist |
I wonder how many times someone's walked into one of the screens, either due to limited field of vision because Mandalorian helmet, or because it looks so realistic Комментарий от : @PandaCatXD |
so this is why mandalorian looks so clean.... already cant wait to see movies with these tech Комментарий от : @eyeteyteras1717 |

Unreal engine is so amazing. Unreal engine five will change gaming forever Комментарий от : @FrostyBud777 |
Forget bulky VR headsets - I want this in my basement for gaming. Комментарий от : @Radonatos |
I had a dumb thought , that the set used in the mandalorian like the buildings could later be added to Disney land galaxy edge and people be like oh hey look I’m in Star Wars ahahaha Комментарий от : @be6386 |

The fact that the imagery updates according to the camera's position/perspective is just extraordinary. How incredible. Комментарий от : @phillip.dustin |
The original Star Wars films so famously and effectively used blue screen special effects that most people don't know that that wasn't the original plan. Lucas had in mind to use projection techniques, in which pre-produced background effects would then be projected into the backgrounds of actor shots. In fact, at least one such early shot was included the film's trailer and thus can still be seen. The trouble was that the film's effects folks quickly fell well behind the film schedule (largely due to the studio dragging its heels, preventing key pre-production) and so Lucas had no choice but to scrap projection for blue screen, as background effects could be created in their own time and then added. This new approach is essentially a buffed up projection technique, only it is much more flexible and convincing visually. It's pretty cool to see Star Wars come full circle like that! Everything old is new again. Its digital set extensions like the paintings they used to do in hollywood films from the 80s and prior. Same concept on steroids. So cool. Комментарий от : @MannyGrey |
this is epik Комментарий от : @LineOfThy |
The Holodeck is near…😉 Комментарий от : @PhilAndersonOutside |
the technology is only good as long as the 3d scenes are photorealistic Комментарий от : @murtazarizvi368 |
@Noluyo Ya dan geldik teşekkürler haha Комментарий от : @melisasanin1474 |
Next one use Unity! Комментарий от : @helloworld77771 |
Its nice for the Actors aswell. instead of sitting in a fucking green room ( poor gandalf in hobbit for example...he was sad af about that ) they at least interact with the environment,. Комментарий от : @n8wolf575 |
So this is the same technology they used at Abba Voyage concert Комментарий от : @yvespublico6419 |
And I bet its pretty nice to the cast as well since they can actually see and imerse themselves in the scenario, not just a bunch of green screens where they have to just imagine the way it should look Комментарий от : @hugodantas1422 |

Just wonder … So what’s the resolution of that LED screen ? Since the production already in 4K or 8K (I am not a professional) Комментарий от : @Extravaganza50667 |
They're using this for The Batman and Thor: Love and Thunder too. Комментарий от : @storiesthatmatter2632 |
Can’t wait thor 4 and ant man 3 cinematography so beautiful and realistic CGI as possible Комментарий от : @sakibsymon9696 |
So, they created the Holodeck from Star Trek, for Star Wars, lmao. Комментарий от : @c-mancleveland4632 |
Amazing. But what I don't get is does this eliminate Post Production?? Or it's just visuals for the actors in real time Комментарий от : @okikiadeduyite9205 |
This is cool, but nothing will beat true locations Комментарий от : @pnut3844able |
I wish I could work on ILM. The volume is insane. John Favreu is also very hot. Комментарий от : @brendaguzman3745 |
I’d love to see one of these from The Book of Boba Fett Комментарий от : @moistsparky9733 |
I think that, additionally to everything that was saind in the video, it also is an incredible tool to help elevate actors performances. When you play a video game, tha bigger the screen and the higher the resolution, the more immersed you are, this only increases in VR which I imagine would be quite similar to the LED screen backdrop and virtual set in general. Tha more immersed an actor is, the easier and more geniuine the performance is and when you have a blank monochromatic greenscreen I believe it it a lot more difficult to imagine the result. Комментарий от : @ragmuth7623 |
The technology has positives and negatives. Positives - super realistic outdoor locations filmed on interior sound stages (the volume). Zero travel costs because you don't need to ship equipment to locations. Negatives - less exterior filming on location will mean less crew required so less employment opportunities. Less revenue for overseas filming. If you can create a Lord of the Rings type countryside scene without filming in New Zealand, just do it on a soundstage, that results in a hugely negative impact on New Zealand's film industry and affiliated businesses. Комментарий от : @bobsmithy9024 |
So...they stole Holodeck technology from Star Trek! ;) Комментарий от : @joesimonetti |
Game engines nowadays are powerful enough to render movie quality backgrounds, so I'm glad the production team went this route. Acting out scenes where you can actually see the background you want is probably easier than with a green screen, and you can control the setting (time, place etc) however you like thanks to the real-time rendering ability game engines have. Kudos to Jon Favreau, ILM & Epic Games. Комментарий от : @anasazmi8554 |
I'm not surprised, this guy definitely got this technology from Ironman. Комментарий от : @deadwood21plus |
Can anyone explain what they're doing at 1:21? I *think I get, it's a plan view of the virtual set at 3 places, where the green circle is the volume, and what's inside it is physical blocking, props and camera angles, and what's beyond is where the CG set would be if physical space extended into the volume's screen. -- Did I get it?? Brilliant work over there! Комментарий от : @jazzlehazzle |
With this technology, you'd only have to film, let's say, a large crowd one time, and then just rewind them with every take while maybe keeping a handful of IRL extras. Комментарий от : @JohnBradford14 |
That's really amazing! Комментарий от : @Archermit |
This technology is very useful for the staff and the comedians. They don’t waste time and can be focused on their job 👍 Комментарий от : @risitasfrance9020 |
every time I look behind the scenes of just realistic just realism of production of a show or a movie I always get sad because I always thing they’re real ☹️😩 Комментарий от : @mumumumey |
