 | My friend who introduced me to Pokémon (prompting me to ask my parents for Blue, we're talking back in the GB era!) told me that Wartortle's Bite move would do extra damage to Misty's Starmie because it would 'break the jewel in the middle of it.' I believed this for quite some time. Hilariously, Bite would later become super effective against Starmie when it became a Dark type move with Starmie being a Psychic type. My friend predicted it, just... not in the way it would actually work out.  | Not exactly a mainstream myth, but there was one rental Nintendo game (8 bit) that my sister and I were convinced it was haunted. Mostly it was just save files seeming to randomly appear and disappear, but there were some visual glitches too. It was most likely just damaged by previous renters, but some of the weirdness it did was really creepy, especially when you're not expecting it. As for more mainstream ones, when I first came across Ben Drowned, it was presented in a format that made it look legit and had been edited to exclude the more unbelievable parts.  | from pokemon red I had a superstition that you could increase your catch percentage by holding down+B after the ball finally grounds and begins shaking. I have NEVER got rid of this superstition. I am not sure if catching legendaries was made easier in pokemon alpha sapphire, but I made a point to catch EVERY Legendary I could, WITH A POKEBALL. There were only a select few time specific legendaries I gave up on, but got pretty much all of them! During a playthrough of the RBY (Red specifically) ports on 3DS, Catching Mewtwo with a pokeball proved to be the most difficult challenge, but I did it!  | My big one was that you could defeat Balio and Sunder at the hideout in Breath of Fire 3 if you levelled up far enough. Beating them would supposedly change the game by letting you keep Rei and Teepo through the child years and recruit Teepo to your team as an adult. It was all a lie.
